Anyway, a quick google reveals that apparently Ubuntu and Yellowdog both run on modern Mac hardware. I wouldn't be surprised if there are others, but I just did a quick search.
Completely possible, in fact support is quite good. I booted up an Ubuntu 8.04 CD a while ago with no problems on my MacBook. You may have to play to get wireless working. At the time, it wasn't included in the default Ubuntu cd (too new), but 8.10 should be pretty good.
Dual monitors, compiz, bluetooth, and media keys all worked out of the box. These days, I tend to just use VirtualBox to run linux instead of dual booting.
