Hopefully everyone by now

Hopefully everyone by now has heard of the partnership between the School of Engineering and the Department of Computing and Information Science that will result in a Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, and the promotion of our Department to a School within that Faculty.

We have a vote in the naming process of our school, and I will cast it on April 14th according to the poll here. Please cast a vote!

The following is a list of naming conventions used by Schools and Departments according to a poll conducted by Professor Yang Xiang:

For Schools:

* Computer Science
o Carleton
o McGill
o Waterloo
o Windsor
* Computing Science
o Simon Fraser
* Computing
o Queens
* Information Technology and Engineering
o Ottawa

For Departments:

* Computer Science
o UBC
o Calgary
o Manitoba
o Memorial
o Regina
o Saskatchewan
o Toronto
o Western Ontario
o Victoria
* Computing Science

I know this is a very delayed reply, but if we became the School of Computer Science should socis become socs(Socity of Computer Science) which sounds nicer? Only then we would clash with the department because they would as well abbreviate to socs.

/me spins in his proverbial grave at the thought of changing the domain name since teddie.socis.ca is in muscle memory now.
