Hello all,
Your fellow students Wyatt Carss, Ali Tremblay, and myself have recently returned from a technical conference in Tucson, Arizona. Wyatt, Ali, and I will be presenting next week to share inspiration and information learned at sessions, including state of the art robotics research happening in the Personal Robotics Group in the MIT Media Lab.
CiSters will be hosting an evening session, Grace Hopper FTW!, next week on Tuesday, October 20th, @5:00pm in Reynolds 312.
There were over 1 600 in attendance at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, and sponsors including Google, HP, Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Symantec, Amazon and others were actively recruiting. Wyatt and Ali were awarded bursaries from CiSters for travel and attendance, and I was able to attend as a Google Global Community Award Winner (full travel scholarship). I would encourage all of you to consider attending next year's conference - it's a great opportunity to meet big employers. Last year, three CS @ Guelph attendees interviewed with Google after meeting recruiters at the conference. Scholarships are available each year.
All are welcome at Tuesday's evening session and I look forward to seeing some of you there.
Melanie
