SOCIS Newsletter! December Edition!

Welcome to December SOCIS! It's nearly the end of the semester, and there's just this last wave of assignments left to worry about. Exams, pfft. To help you bust any of the stress you've got, we're running a lot of social events in the next two weeks that'll take your mind right off school work.

If you know someone who would like to be on the mailing list for the newsletter but for some reason don’t know how, please direct them to http://socis.ca and click on the subscribe newsletter button on the right hand side of the webpage. And now onto our upcoming announcements and events!

SOCIS Lounge, Reynolds basement

Take a break from all the high-tech wizardy you've been doing for the last four months, and come play some games face-to-face with your friends! We've got Munchkin, Cranium, Balderdash, and there's a deck of cards so you know someone's going to start up a game of Mafia.

Come on out for free pizza and pop!

SOCIS Governance Meeting and Elections

Thursday, December 03
5.30 - 7.00pm
Reynolds 219

There's been some shuffling of the SOCIS Executive, and two positions have opened up to be filled: Vice President, and Community Liaison. Joining the exec is the best way to make a real difference in how the club is run, and also looks good on your resume.

To apply for a position, send us an email with your name, what you're running for, and why. We just need a short blurb in the email; there's time at the meeting for a proper candidacy speech.

For details about what each position involves, you can check our constitution.

We'll be keeping a list of running candidates on the forums.

Brass Taps Social

Thursday, December 03
7.00 - 9.00pm
Brass Taps

Nothing celebrates the end of the semester (and a gruelling election) like free pizza and cheap beer (cheap pop if you're under 19). SOCIS is pleased to offer both this Thursday in the Brass Taps, after the meeting. Pizza is courtesy of Dominos, and SOCIS will subsidize a third of all beer and pop purchases. So come on out and blow off all the steam you've built up since Sept!
