WTB: 100 mbit/s Ethernet Hub

Pretty simple requirements: Functional 100baseT ( 100 mbit/s ) ethernet hub.

Must be a hub, not a switch.

Why a hub you ask? A switch is intelligent enough to route traffic to the appropriate port(s), whereas a hub is more primitive and simply forwards all received packets to all ports. I am setting up an experiment where I would like to have multiple machines receive the same packet flows and a nice economical hub would be a great way to acheive this.

Yes, I could setup a box to do it with multiple NIC's and some iptables, but hopefully someone has an old hub kicking around that could make a valuable? contribution to science!

Price: I have a crisp green Queen Elizabeth II here that is just itching to find a new home!

Thanks

I have gotten decent computer equipment from it in the past, including a nice HP server for 50$.

they often have switches and hubs, you just need to check it often.

That surplus auction site is cool! I can get an ambulance for 3 grand! Lol

As for the hub, I checked my stash of old stuff and don't have it here. It must be back home with the parents.

What kind of price were you looking for? Because Future Shop does still carry Dynex (store brand) HUB's. I don't agree with the price, but looking around, even Canadacomputers and the like charge similar amounts, if you can even find it. They want ~25 bucks for it. Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo all seem to have it in stock. And as a disclaimer, I no longer work there, and claim to be bias free. :)

Thanks all for looking into

Thanks all for looking into it.

I have rescued a 16-port repeator from the scrap heap and am happy to report it fit the bill perfectly.
