I believe at some point that there was a logo voted on and everything, and that's it's going to be on shirts soon. I'm not sure what the logo was (I'll probably acquire a shirt anyways) but what did that look like in the end? Perhaps replacing this site's favicon then, because I don't particularly like the current one, but that might just be me.
Hope you all are doing awesome.
Hi Everyone,
I'm writing to invite you to our tech career fair Tuesday, January 31st, from 5 to 7PM, in the Science Complex Atrium.
Local companies (mostly from Guelph) asked if they could come and meet our students, and develop new relationships. Of course we said yes!
This will be a unique opportunity to spend some time with members of the local tech community and find out more about what they are working on, in an informal setting.
Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided.

Students are invited to learn about the global space industry at an information session at the University of Guelph, January 13, noon to 1:30 pm in Alexander Hall, Room 259.
Sponsored by COM DEV International Ltd and organized by the School of Environmental Sciences, Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility, the session will highlight the Space Studies Program offered through the International Space University (ISU) which provides graduate-level training to the future leaders of the emerging space community.
The 25th Space Studies Program, a nine-week immersion in the study of humankind’s evolving experience of space, will take place at the Florida Institute of Technology, Kennedy Space Center, June 4 to August 3, 2012.
This year’s deadline for applications to ISU, or the Canadian Foundation for ISU which provides scholarships to Canadian candidates, is January 31.

CS Games is so far away this year, and with only one team from Guelph making the trek what else are you going to do with yourself?
How about 3-4 days in Montreal attending the Canadian University Software Engineering Conference?
Previous speakers have included *internet famous* people [Rands, Jeff Atwood, Tim Bray, Joel Spolsky, etcetera].
This year you've got a Reddit co-founder, Riot games dev, Dropbox dev, Bioware designer, and more.
The format is a conference, rather than a competition the way CS Games operates, but you'll have your brain explode from all teh knowledge you are receiving.
"But Chad, I'm poor. I'll spend money on Xbox Live and buy games on Steam – you know, investments in my future! – but this conference thing seems like a waste of money."

Hi SoCS!
I'm looking for a few volunteers to start a Consultant Club running out of SoCS.
As a pilot project, I've spoken with Campus Safewalk (a CSA club) and they've expressed interest in having some web-based software developed for their scheduling needs.
Scheduling for Campus Safewalk currently requires each member to submit their availability for shifts where then a Volunteer Coordinator then builds up an Excel sheet to construct a schedule. This is a cumbersome and rigid design that can benefit from automation and a little bit of software intelligence. The current project sees the development of a PHP/MySQL application to streamline the availability submission to schedule construction procedure.
Notice that an extensive search has revealed no free software that currently fills what is needed, so if you're aware of something like this, please let me know.
