Windows 7 Killed my Battery

So my Lenovo T61's battery has fallen victim of Window 7's battery bug. It basically perma-destroys your battery, as it falsely reads its capacity. Today i went from Full charge(3 hours) to 2 and a half hours, than jumped to 5 minutes, and than shutoff.

I than installed Linux Mint, and its doing the same thing.

Im now forced to buy a new battery, Lenovo wants 250 including tax for a 9cell 10.8v battery. Bit of a punch to my pockets, any suggestions.

this is what i was looking at.

So should i go with Lenovo, or grab a generic one off tigerdirect.ca

Res Internet Wiring

Hey im in South Res Mountain hall, and im trying to set up a file sharing network between my roomates and I. It seems as tho every 2 rooms in an alcove, ( of 6 rooms) are on their own separate networks.

So if the alcove contained rooms 1-6, 1 and 2 would be on their own, 3 and 4 would be on their own, and 5 and 6 would be on their own.

Right now were using windows 7's home group feature, which is nice, but 5/6 people cant see my computer, and i cant see theirs.

Whats would be an alternative? I've been pondering if Hamachi would work?

Also i do frequent newsgrouping here in res, seems im capped at about 170kbs. Anything i can do about this?

DC++

Does Guelph have a DC++ network?( im not sure if its referred to as a network, never used the program).

Edit:

Sorry for the double post, i had forgotten i had posted in General Chat so i posted in Windows, as when i came to see if anyone had replied i assumed it was deleted.

Thanks for the double slap on the wrist about double posting too.

Swapping Boot Order - Vista and Windows 7

Does anybody know offhand how to switch my boot order? I'm running Vista and 7 on the same hard drive.

Right now it's defaulting to Vista, and unless I switch it to Windows 7 before 30 seconds, it boots Vista.

I want to be able to turn on my computer and walk away and have 'er run windows 7.

TIA

Should I be afraid of XP Service Pack 3?

Hello all

Does anyone have experience with SP3 for XP? Any problems similar to those that came about with SP2?

Thanks,
